The AKIpress News Agency, the first independent agency in Kyrgyzstan with a wide regional network of journalists, including all regional centers and the largest cities of the republic, and also giving economic, political, public news and analytical information.

The press-center AKIpress organizes press conferences, briefings, round tables with participation of leaders of non-governmental, public, youth, women's organizations, parties, mass media, state bodies. The goal of the press-center is to enlarge the small list of information resources, which are used by mass media in Kyrgyzstan. The regional offices of the AKIpress we opened in cities of Karakol, Naryn, Batken, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Kara-Balta. The training seminars for the regional journalists were held.

The web-server of the AKIpress News Agency is created, which has become the leader and main source of accurate electronic information for Kyrgyz mass media, and which cited by numerous international news agencies and journalists. Distribution of news products via Internet allows attracting a big number of visitors. At the moment about 30% of daily www.akipress.org site visits are from foreign countries.

According to the sociological survey the AKIpress is the most popular Kyrgyz Internet site. (Award "The Best Information and News Resource - 2002".) More than 11% of the interrogated chiefs of business and NGO, the leading experts of the ministries and departments regularly scoop the information from this source. Our permanent subscribers are Cameco Co., Investment Round Table, EBRD, TACIS, ADB, Soros Foundation, OSCE, Reuters, Euromoney.
