The news agency Asia-Plus has been functioning since 1996. The first issue of the information and analytical bulletin in English and Russian languages was brought out in April 1996.

Since the first months of the Agency's activity almost all foreign embassies accredited in Tajikistan and the majority of international organizations present in Tajikistan have subscribed to publications of the Agency.

In 1998, Information Agency Asia-Plus went over to issuing the daily materials "Asia-Plus Blitz". Its main headings are "Power"; "Parliament"; "Economy"; "Cooperation"; "Legislation"; "Defense" and "Security"; "Law & Order", "Society" and "Regions". Development of its own correspondent network in Dushanbe and in regions of the country (Khujand, Qurghon Teppa, Kulob and Khorog) allowed the Agency becoming the most efficient and reliable source of independent information in Tajikistan.

It is not for nothing that in the last years, Asia-Plus has become the most frequently quoted local source of information. Since the very beginning of its activity the Agency declared OBJECTIVITY, IMPARTIALITY, FREEDOM FROM REGIONALISM AND OTHER PARTIALITIES as principles of its work.
Due to this, the President's Office, Tajik Parliament, many ministries and departments of the country, banks and large commercial structures are now among subscribers of Asia-Plus. The Headquarters of the OSCE, agencies of United Nations Organization (UNTOP, UNHCR, UNICEF, UNDP, UNWFP), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Bank, the Aga Khan Foundation, BBC, Radio Liberty, the Headquarters of the Asian Development Bank in Manila, the world's largest computer database Dow Jones and many other international organizations are receiving the English version of the ASIA-Plus's news.
Since the beginning of 1997, the electronic version of Asia-Plus is available at www.asiaplus.tj. On February 24 2005, the News Agency "Asia-Plus" was rewarded with golden decoration “Honorary Patron and Philanthropist. For Generosity of Thoughts and Deeds” presented by the International Charity “Patrons of Century” (Moscow). The News Agency “Asia-Plus” is holder of certificate of participant of the 12th International Exhibition “The 2005 Press” in Moscow. Since March 2005, the Media-Group, together with a number of research and information partners from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has participated in the “Central Asian Gateway” project.
